IQ Principles

At Kullik Ilihakvik, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) principles guide the way we learn, teach, and interact every day. These traditional values are at the heart of our school and remind us of the importance of respect, community, and caring for one another.

The IQ principles include:

  • Inuuqatigiitsiarniq – Respecting others, relationships, and caring for people.

  • Tunnganarniq – Fostering good spirit by being open, welcoming, and inclusive.

  • Piliriqatigiinniq / Ikajuqtigiinniq – Working together for a common cause.

  • Avatittinnik Kamatsiarniq – Respect and care for the land, animals, and environment.

  • Pilimmaksarniq / Pijariuqsarniq – Development of skills through practice, effort, and action.

  • Qanuqtuurniq – Being innovative and resourceful in seeking solutions.

  • Aajiiqatigiinniq – Decision-making through discussion and consensus.

These principles are woven into our classrooms, activities, and school culture. They help our students grow not only in knowledge, but also in character, community, and cultural pride.
